All About Dance Club

By Arlette Musey

dance team 2.png

Hello my name is Arlette and I am a member of Dance Club. In dance club we learn about different genres of dance like hip-hop and ballet. We will be performing at the talent show. My favorite part about being in this club is that you use different types of music. When you learn how to do ballet and hip-hop you get to add it to the dances that you learn. The person who teaches us the genres of dance is Mrs. O'Brien. She is a 4th grade teacher at this school. She is also a very good dancer. Next year if you are interested in dancing, sign up for dance club. I hope you enjoy dance club if you sign up for it. Just try your best to learn all the dances and moves that we do!

Toy Review: Play Dough

By Alyson Robles

Play Dough is a fun toy to play with. It is fun to play with the different play sets that you can get. It feels like sand, but better. It comes in many colors and you can be ages 3 and up to play with Play Dough. Baby can't play with it because they might eat it and that would be bad. It can be made into an animal or cupcakes or more. It is fun to play with in my opinion. Play Dough can be the funnest thing when you are in your car or house you can use it. Also, Play Dough can be used for crafts and more. that is the end of the toy review about Play Dough!

Amazing Art!

By Jefferson Cruz

On Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 some students from different schools got invited to the Lynn Arts Inc. to celebrate the LPS student art exhibit. All the students who got invited got a piece of their school art displayed. The gallery has different art topics. For example, the art gallery has an animal topic. There was a lot of art from different schools being displayed. Shoemaker, Tracey, Washington, and other schools (including Cobbet) that got displayed. At the gallery, students who got invited got to walk around and see their art and art of others! I got picked because I made a robot and that fits perfectly with a topic they have at the gallery. The gallery is a great place and makes me feel special because my art is displayed there! It also makes me feel talented because the art there is amazing and to have my art next to it is awesome!

Universe in Disguise

By Jefferson Cruz

The universe has a lot of things and organisms, but they all have one thing in common: they're all made up of energy and matter!

  • Matter is ANYTHING made up of mass or something that occupies space.

  • There are about 6 types of energy.

  • When something moves it has the energy of motion.

  • There is energy INSIDE of us!

These are some facts I know, but you can find more information at this website:

Fashionista Barbie: Anything Is Possible, You Can Be Anything

By Joshua Cintron

Barbie has been here since March 9, 1959. When she first came out, she had broad shoulders and a tiny waist, but that was more than 60 years ago. Now it is 2019 and Barbie has three new body shapes (boys and girls):

  1. Not too skinny (original)

  2. Petite (shorter than average)

  3. Curvy (thicker body)

There are also a variety of skin tones and hairstyles available. Some of the new hairstyles are afros, straightened, curly, short and more hairstyles. I even found a Barbie that looks like me. It includes glasses, but I don't wear glasses so I like to use them as fashion glasses. I love, like, and enjoy Barbie so this was a perfect toy for me to review. To me, Barbie is now a perfect fashion doll. I give the new Barbie dolls 10 stars!

The Big Apple Circus

By Arlette Musey

The Big Apple Circus was an event that took place at the North Shore Mall. At the Big Apple Circus they have a juggler who can juggle 7 baseballs at a time. There are also gymnasts who hang on to these bars blindfolded and their partners have to catch them but the twist is that both partners are blindfolded.

One lady named Rose makes the foals and the horses walk on the back legs for 5 steps and then gallop from dad, to mom, to sister, to brother. Another act is a boy's named Daniel. Daniel speaks about how The Big Apple Circus started by doing a few musicals during the beginning of the show to explain how they have become so successful. The Big Apple Circus was one of the best and most fun places I've ever been to.

Ramadan

By Mariama Bah

Ramadan is a month where Muslims fast for reward for the afterlife. The prophets revealed that we must fast and pray 5 times a day. We cannot eat after 3 in the morning. We can eat at Maghrib time, which is usually 7-something in the evening. If you eat, drink, or pass gas, your fast is gone. If you eat a second early, your fast is broken. Sometimes you may get tempted about food, but remember you get a reward. The reward is going to paradise or heaven. I think Ramadan is great and awesome.
