Letter from the Editor

Miss Kelsey Bartlett

Welcome to the Cobbet Chronicles!

The reporters here at Cobbet are very excited to have gone digital in November. We would like to offer a big thank you to Miss Bansfield for helping us to achieve this.

It is very exciting to be learning alongside my reporters about publishing our articles online. I am very proud of the hard work they have done writing, reporting and acquiring new technology skills. I hope that you enjoy reading their work as much as I do!

Happy holidays to you and your families!

-Miss Kelsey Bartlett, Editor-in-Chief

December 2015

Hour of Code
Miss Shannon Bansfield

National Computer Science Education week was December 8 - 14, sponsored by code.org.   Cobbet students joined the national movement and participated with students across the United States to learn about computer programming!

Did you know...

  • Computing jobs are growing 3 times faster than the number of computer science graduates.

  • More than 50 percent of all math and science jobs are for computer scientists.

  • Computer science jobs are the highest-paying jobs for new graduates.

  • Computational thinking is important across all subjects.

You can learn more at the Computer Science Education Week site (csedweek.org).

Welcome December!

Newcomer here to tell you to be appreciative of what you have. Everytime you tear off Christmas wrapping paper, be appreciative took time to wrap your gift to make you happy and smile.  That is pure kindness right there. Don't just be appreciative of your toys.  Think about your family and how they are always there to help you if you lose your way.  I want you guys to think about that this Christmas...and every day after.

Take The Winter Break Reading Challenge!

Try to complete as many reading activities as you can over winter break! When you complete an activity, color in the square and write the title of the book. Make sure someone at home signs the bottom before you bring it back to school.

Due: Monday, January 4th

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Over winter break we are encouraging our students to read every day and are looking for your help. Please have your child complete at least six out of nine "Winter Break Reading Challenge" activities at home. Please make sure you sign the bottom of the paper before they bring it back to school on Monday, January 4th. We hope you have a wonderful and happy winter vacation.

Spending the day with awesome kids and watching them work hard and grow as learners and people.
